All ElectroMaax Cruiser, High-Output Marine Alternators are 99% plug and play when combined with our E-MAAX Pro X External voltage Regulator, which minimizes rewiring and ensures you’re now charging at the most efficient level possible.
The Cruiser compliments solar and wind power on small vessels and eliminates the need for back up gas gensets. The Cruiser range comes in 2 mounts:
The 100amp creates 70amps at idle and tops out at 100amp. You can also purchase our 120amp, 140amp and 160amp models.
We also suggest you convert your engine to multi groove (serpentine) which will allow amperages in excess of 100 amp, eliminate more belt dust, and quiet down your engine.

The Cruiser line is designed for the recreational boater. It is a small case – 100amp to 160amp which is an ideal option for replacing your original manufactured marine alternator.
The Cruiser marine alternator ensures more electricity is available when you’re away from the dock, which gives you more power for electronics, lighting, windlass, AC appliances, marine watermakers and refrigeration.
The Cruiser 100-160 amp 12v foot mount alternator comes in 100, 120, 140, and 160 amps, for Volvo, Westerbeke, Universal or any marine engine with a 1 inch or 2 inch spindle style alternator mount. The Cruiser 100amp - 160amp saddle mount marine alternators fit to the Yanmar 3.15 inch mounting style engines.
The 100am - 160amp Cruiser series provides best in the market high-output charging performance. It’s perfect for weekend, or a week-long trips. The Cruiser will deliver high amperage at idle, and even more amps at a cruising RPM.
The 100amp alternator can be driven by a minimum 1/2 inch single V-belt (we recommend using a cogged V-belt like Dayco’s Top Cog for better power transfer) and can be driven with our comprehensive line of serpentine belt upgrade kits.
We recommend using our multi-stage E-MAAX Smart, External voltage regulator to control these alternators, with the internal regulator kept disconnected as a back-up.
The Cruiser 140 generates 89amps (1240 watts) at 888 (engine) R.P.M., 112 amps (1560 watts) at 1330 R.P.M., and 2000 watts flat out. This means the alternator provides dual service. It is both an alternator and a back up generator – perfect for small boats with limited space.
Our 100-amp Cruiser-Series marine alternator is an excellent entry into truly high-output charging performance. Perfect for weekend, or a week-long cruise, the 100A Cruiser will deliver 70 amps at a high idle, and 100+ amps at cruise RPM. This alternator can be driven by a minimum 1/2” single V-belt (we recommend using a cogged V-belt like Dayco’s “Top Cog” for better power transfer).
Our 120-amp Cruiser-Series marine alternator is an excellent high-output alternator. Perfect for weekend, or a week-long cruise, the 120A Cruiser will deliver 84 amps at a high idle, and 120+ amps at cruise RPM. This alternator can be driven by a minimum 1/2” single V-belt (we recommend using a cogged V-belt like Dayco’s “Top Cog” for better power transfer).
Our most popular alternator model, the 140-amp Cruiser-Series Marine Alternator is a superior choice for applications with 500 to 600 amp hours of house battery capacity and 6 or 10 groove serpentine or dual 1/2” V-belts. This alternator delivers up to 115 amps while on the hook and exceeds its rating at cruising rpm.
To protect and extend the life of your batteries, this alternator should always be used in conjunction with a smart, multi-stage regulator like our E-MAAX Smart, External charge controller. Due to its compact size to massive output, the 140amp Cruiser is a perfect solution in environments where a separate generator or large-case alternator are not possible. Can also be used with other external voltage regulators.
Our most powerful Cruiser-Series Marine Alternator, the 160amp Cruiser is compatible with dual 1/2” V-belts or systems with our Serpentine Pulley Kits installed. The 160 amp Cruiser is often used as a second-position alternator that’s dedicated to charging extra large house battery loads, or in applications where thruster and windlass battery banks require high-amperage replenishment in the quickest time possible.
Your boat engine will determine the mounting style – either a foot-mount or saddle-mount. The horse-power of your engine will determine the specific alternator output (amperage) that’s required. You can email or call us any time with your questions.
Combining your new Cruiser with an E-MAAX PRO X Smart, External Regulator, which by changing the field determines the alternators output means on a 20 HP you could install our Cruiser 140 amp and dial it in at 80 amps when the propeller is engaged and at 140 amp when on the hook or when under sail.
